I have been working on international sanctions and countering terrorist financing since 2007 when I started as a diplomat at the European Correspondent Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After preparing Estonian positions for the sanction’s negotiations in the EU, I became the negotiator myself. After posting to Brussels, I focused on UN sanctions and later also on DPRK.Since I resigned from the MFA, I’ve been working on international sanctions implementation, mainly in Financial Institutions and, since 2024, am also the Chair of the Sanctions Working group at the Estonian Banking Association.
